Home to UNC Women’s Basketball, as well as volleyball, wrestling, and gymnastics, the renovation and addition to Carmichael Arena modernized an aging facility and brought it up to current program needs. The project improved life safety and building systems, added air conditioning, upgraded fire alarm and sprinkler systems, and enhanced acoustics and broadcast capabilities. A new center-hung videoboard was installed, while the original 1960s façade was updated to better align with adjacent campus architecture. New exhibits and a dedicated museum space for UNC Women’s Basketball were included to highlight program history.
