The Chatham Grove Elementary School is a 105,000 SF facility designed to serve 750 students and strengthen connections between the school, the surrounding neighborhood, and the adjacent park. A curving interior “student avenue” organizes the plan, separating classroom areas from large group spaces. Clerestory windows bring daylight into the corridor and highlight key program areas, including the main entrance, media center, and dining space. At its southern end, the avenue leads to a gymnasium that supports school functions and community use through a partnership with County Parks and Recreation. Sustainable strategies include geothermal wells, extensive daylighting, locally sourced materials, and preservation of existing wetlands.
